Simon Says Stamp – Out of this World: Blog Hop Day 1

Hello Crafty friends I am super excited to be celebrating a new release with Simon Says Stamp, Out of this World! Today is the first day of a two day blog hop celebrating the new release Out of this World! I have all the details listed below for the blog hop, be sure to check out the details below! Today I have a card for you using the new embossing folder: Garden Spires, as well as the Billow Butterfly Plate! So let’s get started!

For today’s card I am using 2 new goodies from the release: Garden Spires embossing folder and the Billow Butterfly Plate! I had so much fun and I truly love this folder, it has so many unique possibilities! I started with a piece of Canson XL Watercolor card stock. I used 3 colors of Lindy’s Gang Flat Fabio spray to create a colorful background. I started with a green for the bottom, then a minty green, and then a blue for the top. I wanted to share, here you can use any colors, sprays, inks, etc. that you have in your stash to create a similar effect. I worked in layers of color, allowing each layer to dry, spritzed panel with water, then picked up color with my paper towel. I repeated the process a couple of times until I had the color and texture I was looking for.

Next I placed the panel of watercolor paper inside the Garden Spires embossing folder and ran the panel through my die cutting machine. Next I chose several shades of Distress Crayons to add color to the stems, leaves, and flowers on my dry embossed florals. I start by placing a small amount of the crayon directly onto the watercolor paper on the dry embossed raised areas. I spritzed a small amount of water on my glass surface and picked up the water on my finger, then directly moved the crayon with my finger/water. I continued this process until the images had the color/texture I was looking for.

Next I added white and gold splatters to the background. I love adding splatters to my cards for added texture! Next I trimmed the panel using my Tim Holtz Deckle Edge trimmer. I then distressed the edges using my distress tool. I then added more texture by applying Distress Ink in Vintage Photo to the card panel edges.

To complete my card I adhered the panel to an A2 card base and added a sentiment strip from the Reverse YayYou Sentiment strips. I then adhered a butterfly from another project using the BIillow Butterfly Plate. I created tags using the Billow Butterfly plate and I had an additional butterfly left, so I love the added pop of color the butterfly adds.

  55. I think the garden spires EF is one for the permanent stash. Honestly one could put any sort of flower die (or anything) in front of it and it’s going to fill out the idea of a garden.
