August 2023 My Monthly Hero Release | Hero Arts

Hello Crafty friends I am so excited to join Hero Arts this month as a Guest Designer for their release of the Hero Arts August 2023 My Monthly Hero Kit and add-on release! This month’s release is amazing and is inspired by the Hero Arts owners trip to Yosemite National Park! I am excited to be hopping this month, you will find all the details for the hop listed below. On my blog today I will be sharing 3 cards, using the Classic Kit, as well as several of the add-ons from this release! So let’s get started!

For my first card I am using the My Monthly Hero Classic kit! This kit is amazing and the dies create such an AMAZING scene! For my card today I wanted the focal image to be the tree die from this kit. I started with a piece of hot press watercolor paper and the Reactive Ombre Ink Pad in Spring Day. I created the background for the trees by using the ink pad to “ink smoosh.” I pushed the ink pad into my work surface, spritzed with water, placed paper in ink, heat set, added water droplets, and picked up the color with a paper towel. I repeated the process until I had the texture I was looking for.

Next I used the tree die from the kit and die cut 3 layers of trees. I then inked up the edges with a dark brown, and applied Hero Wax in Gold to areas of the trees. Next I chose a gelli print from my stash for the background. I trimmed the panel down using my rectangle die. I then determined the placement of the trees and adhered them with liquid glue and foam tape.

I completed the card using the clear stamp set from the kit, I chose the sentiment and heat embossed this on black card stock using white embossing powder. I adhered the panel to an A2 card base. I had so much fun with this kit! It will be a perfect addition to your craft room to create an outdoor scene!

I also wanted to share 2 more cards with you I created using new items from the August Release. My first card is using the Golden Poppies Stamp set. I stamped the image and heat set the image using clear embossing powder. I then colored the image using my Zig markers. When I watercolor I work in layers, starting with the lightest, working to my darkest shade.

Once my watercolor was complete, I trimmed the panel using the Nested Frame cuts, then I added splatters using white acrylic paint, and a gold metallic watercolor. Once the panel was dry, I adhered this to an A2 card base. I completed my card with a Happy Birthday sentiment from the stamp set.

For my 3rd card I used several new release items to create a colorful card with lots of color, texture, and shine! For my 3rd project I used Cactus Fancy Dies, Graphic Mountains Stencil, Golden State, as well as Rough Dot Bold Prints. I had a lot of fun creating this card, I love all the layers and texture!!
