Rainbows – Day 2 Blog Hop: Simon Says Stamp

For today’s card I am using the gorgeous new Leaf Bundle embossing folder! I love Simon’s folders, the details in the embossed card panel are just stunning! So let’s get started! For today’s card I wanted to create a mixed media vibe using this gorgeous folder! I started with Distress Oxide sprays in Tumbled Glass, Shabby Shutters, and Vintage Photo. I added spray to the inside of the folder. I sprayed the debossed side of the folder with the oxide colors and then placed the watercolor cardstock inside the folder and ran it through my Big Shot machine. It was really cool to see how the colors moved inside the folder onto the paper. I set the panel aside to dry.

Once the panel was dry, it was time to add some mixed media vibes to my card! I started by stamping the Friendship text pattern onto the embossed card panel. I used Versafine Clair Nocturne ink and stamped in a random pattern. Once this was complete I wanted to add a bit more texture, I used the I Like Big Dots Stencil from Simon Says stamp. I layed this down on my card panel and used my WOW embossing pad to add ink to various dots on the stencil. I added 2 different powders: Karin’s Dream and Ulla’s Cognac. I love the added color and texture these powders added to the card.

I then die cut the Eucalyptus Leaves in a blue pattern paper from a previous Simon Says Stamp card kit. I heat embossed the leaves using Karin’s Dream powder as well. For my sentiment I chose – Hang in There from the XL Greetings 2 stamp & die set and heat embossed this in gold.

Finally I die cut the Leaf Bundle card panel using a Tim Holtz Stacked Deckle Thinlits die. I mounted this onto a piece of color card stock from my stash, and placed this onto an A2 card base. I foam mounted the sentiment, as well as the leaves.

  64. I think that this is the first time that I have seen an embossing folder used this way—adding stamping on to it after the card is embossed. I’ll have to try this by adhering decoupage paper to it. That’s what your card reminds me of. Unless I missed reading it from your post. Thanks for taking the time to post
