Spellbinders: Jane Davenport Blog Hop

Hi Crafty Friends! I am super excited to be back today to celebrate Jane Davenport’s amazing products with an amazing team of designers from Spellbinders! There are amazing products created by Jane Davenport and you can view them here. On today’s hop you will find beautiful inspiration using art essential products from Jane. For today’s card I am using the Mermaid Markers from Jane Davenport. I had a lot of fun with these markers and the colors are just gorgeous and super intense! Which I love! Before we get started on my card, you arrived here from the super talented Jennifer Kotas. The next person on the hop is Norine Borys. So let’s get started! I started by placing a piece of Canson XL watercolor card stock inside the Scallops Embossing folder from Spellbinders. I ran this through my Spellbinders Platinum Machine I then taped the card stock down into a hard board. I then added clean water to the card panel. I added 2 colors of mermaid markers to my class surface. I chose Byron Bay and Starfish. I applied the pigment to sections of the embossed panel. I started with the blue, then the pink. I then used both colors in various sections to “mix” the colors and to create a different pattern of color on my background.

Once the background panel was completed I set this aside to dry. I then started to work on my center focal point. I used the Layered Wildflowers clear stamp set from Spellbinders. I stamped the floral images using my Colorfuse inks/Rubbernecker. Once it was complete I trimmed this down using an Oval die cut.

I wanted to add a bit more interest and dimension to my watercolored background panel. I added 2 colors of WOW embossing powder: WOW Embossing Powder – Earl Grey and WOW Embossing Powder – Sea of Tranquility. I used the mixed media brush to apply the embossing ink and then spinkled on the embossing powder. I love the added texture and sparkles!

It was time to choose a sentiment and I chose one from the June 2021 Clear Stamp of the Month Club. I stamped this using Versafine Clair Nocturne ink and then die cut this into a sentiment strip. Finally I adhered my card together, using foam tape for the center floral oval and my sentiment. I added a few sequins and my card was complete!

I had a blast with these markers and can’t wait to se them again! The colors are amazing and so pigmented! I think you will love them too!

  26. Simply a wonderful card Natasha! The vibrancy & depth of colour from JD’s watercolour markers really show up on your card. They are now on my wish list. I think it was a grand idea adding the two embossing powders to the card as well.
