STAMPtember….. It’s a Party with Simon Says Stamp

Hello Crafty friends! I am excited to be back today to PARTY with Simon Say Stamp! Today on the Simon Says Stamp blog there is so much inspiration from the Simon Designers and the Design Family and we wanted to party with you to kick off the start of STAMPtember! For my next project today I am sharing 2 new items from the new STAMPtember release: Pepperberry Bundles (Cut and Emboss Folder) and the Sassy Thankful Stamp set! I had a lot of fun creating today’s card and adding lots of texture!

I started my project with a piece of Canson watercolor cardstock. I started my adding several Distress Stain and Distress Oxide Sprays to the watercolor paper. (I have added the colors below). When working with sprays I work in layers, adding bits of color, adding water, drying with a heat tool, spritz with water and “pulling off” color with a paper towel. I repeat this process until my background has the colors/textures I am looking for. Once my panel was complete, I ran the paper through my die cutting machine using the new Pepperberry Embossing folder.

Once the panel was dry embossed I wanted to add more color and texture to the folder. I used my Zig markers to add more colors to the raised portions of the embossed panel. I trimmed the panel down using my paper trimmer. Next I used my distress tool to add texture to the card panel. I then applied ink to various edges of the panel. I also added embossing glaze to various sections of the card panel. I used Salvage Patina Embossing Glaze. I heat set the glaze using my heat tool.

Next I applied Distress Micro Glaze over the top using a blending tool. Then I added splatters using a white acryclic paint. To complete the card I stamped a sentiment from the new Sassy Thankful stamp set onto kraft card stock. Once the sentiment was stamped I roughed up the edges using my distress tool, applied ink and foundry wax for more detail and texture.

To complete the card I added a piece of Tim Holtz ribbon from my stash, as well as a button/twine. I encourage you to check out your stash for added textures for your card! I had a lot of fun using the new Pepperberry Folder! This folder also includes dies to cut Pepperberries! This folder has so many possibilities!

  23. Beautiful background! Very interesting that you created the background and then colored over the dry embossed part to highlight the flowers. I would not have thought to do that. Lovely card.
