Something New – Simon Says Stamp Monday Blog

Hello Crafty friends I am super excited to be back today joining the team over at Simon Says Stamp for their Monday Challenge! This week the theme is Something New! I had a lot of fun this week and I can’t wait to see all the AMAZING makes! For this week’s theme I used the Cosmos Edition stamp set from Paperartsy. This set is my Something New!

I started with a large playing card from my stash. I added white acrylic paint onto the background of the card. I used a paintbrush, as well as a small brayer to move the paint. Once the paint was dry I added Entomology Collage paper from Tim Holtz. I ripped the paper with my hands and applied the collage paper to the card using Collage medium. I allowed the card panel to completely dry.

As the panel was drying I stamped the Comos Floral onto mixed media paper. I stamped the image using Versafine Clair Ink in Nocturne and heat embossed the floral using clear embossing powder. I added Distress Ink to the floral panel in Antique Linen and Speckled Egg. I applied the ink using a clear plastic sheet. Next I watercolored the image using Gansai Tambi watercolors. I work in layers, going from lightest to darkest. I then added more details to the flower petals using colored pencils. I love going back in to add more details with pencils.

I then started to work on my playing card background. I added text from the Cosmos Edition stamp set using Hickory Smoke Archival Ink. I randomly stamped the text pattern across the playing card background. I then added more texture using the Fading Tiny Dots stencil from Simon Says Stamp. I added texture paste through the stencil across the background in various parts of the card. Once the paste was dry I added more Distress Ink and Distress Crayons as well for added texture.

I completed the card by adding twine, as well as a sentiment from the Cosmos Edition stamp set. A few white splatters as well for added texture!

STAMPtember… Let’s Party with Simon Says Stamp

Hello Crafty friends! I am excited to be back today to PARTY with Simon Say Stamp! Today on the Simon Says Stamp blog there is so much inspiration from the Simon Designers and the Design Family and we wanted to party with you to kick off the start of STAMPtember! Be sure to check out the Simon Says Stamp blog, where you will find so much inspiration! There are many different gifts/promotions available – have fun seeing all the gorgeous new projects and checking out all the amazing promotions happening! I am sharing my promotion below! So let’s get started!

For my first project I am using the Mod Forest embossing folder! I started by running the folder through my die cutting machine using white card stock. I then flipped over the panel to ink the debossed side. I used a combination of dye inks, including Simon Says Stamp Inks. I listed the colors I used below.

Once the panel was inked I trimmed the panel using my Deckle Edge trimmer. I then distressed the edges using my distress tool. I darkened the edges using Walnut Stain Distress Inks. I added more texture to the trees by applying Luster Wax in the color Charcoal.

Next I die cut the sentiment – You are Magic using black card stock. I die cut the sentiment 4 times and adhered the layers together using liquid glue. I completed the card by adding white splatters, sequins, as well as a piece of patterned paper for the card panel. I also added twine at the top of the card for a little more texture.

May 2025 Hero Studio Release & Blog Hop | Hero Arts

Hello Crafty friends I am so excited to join Hero Arts this month for their release of the Hero Arts May 2025 Card Kit of the Month, Monthly Minis, as well as Extraordinary Extras. This month is all about the Flower shop! I am excited to be hopping this month, you will find all the details for the hop listed below. So let’s get started!

For my first project I am sharing a card using the Card Kit of the Month. I had fun creating a vintage inspired card! I started by applying Core Inks through the stencil included in the kit for the flowers. I apologize I had the inks on my table and put them away before I wrote them down. I encourage you to play here and just have fun combining colors. I created more dimension by adding at least 2 colors per layer within one image. Once the flowers were complete, I die cut them using the coordinating die.

Next I started to work on the vase for my florals. I die cut the vase using Sand card stock. I then added Core Inks in Caramel, Paradise, and Cup of Joe for added dimension and texture. I also applied Icelandic wax to the edges for added interest, as well as Cup of Joe ink. I then stamped the vase, as well as the Hello sentiment onto a coordinating die cut. I also inked this piece as well using the same steps as above.

Next I started to work on the background. I started with an A2 panel of Mist card stock. I then added Root Beer Reactive Ink to my panel. I applied the ink to my work surface, spritzed with water, then smooshed the paper into the ink. I dried with a heat tool, added water droplets, picked up color with a paper towel, then repeated layers.

I completed the card by adhering all the layers together using a combination of liquid glue and foam tape. I had a lot of fun with this kit!

For my next project I am using the Cling of the Month! I love background stamps, there are so many possibilities when using them! Today I wanted to share an idea by stamping a portion of the background, this creates a lot of texture. I started by stamping the background using Onyx Pigment Ink onto a gelli print background that was made using Core Inks. I stamped a portion of the background to create texture. I then added clear embossing powder and heat set the background.

Next I die cut 2 floral stems from the Bees and Flowers fancy dies using Pitch Black Card Stock. I then chose a sentiment from the Stamp and Cut of the Month. I stamped the sentiment using Unicorn Pigment ink onto Pitch Black cardstock, then heat set using white embossing powder. I then trimmed the sentiment.

Next I adhered al the layers together using a combination of liquid and foam adhesive. I had a lot of fun with this stamp set! It is a beautiful pattern!
