New Release – Simon Says Stamp Blog Hop day 1

Hello Crafty friends I am super excited to be celebrating a new release with Simon Says Stamp, Just for You! Today is the first day of a two day blog hop celebrating the new release Just for you! I have all the details listed below for the blog hop, be sure to check out the details below! Today I have a card for you using the new background stamp, Leaf Edges.So let’s get started!

I started by stamping the Old Letter background from Simon Says Stamp onto Canson XL watercolor cardstock. Next I treated the watercolor paper panel with my anti-static tool. Then I stamped one part of the new leaf Edges background onto my water color panel using Vera Fine ink. I then added clear embossing powder and heat set the stamped background.

Next I added Distress Spray stain to my card panel. I used Antique Linen and Speckled Egg Stain. I added the spray stain, allowed it to dry, added water droplets, and then picked up color with a paper towel. I repeated this process a couple times until I had the texture I was looking for. Once the panel was completely dry, I started to watercolor the leaf background. I used my Mijello Mission Gold Pure Pigment watercolors. I worked in layers, allowing each layer to dry before adding more watercolor. Once the background was complete, I trimmed the panel with my Tim Holtz Deckle Edge trimmer and then added Distress Inks to each side, then set this aside.

Next I die cut the sentiment Happy Birthday using a SSS die. I die cut the shadow using vellum and the text using black card stock. I die cut 3 layers of the words happy birthday and adhered them together with liquid glue. I then added white and gold splatters to my card panel, once dry adhered this to an A2 card base. I then adhered the sentiment and sub sentiment to the front of my card panel. I completed the card front with a few wood heart embellishments.

  2. That first card is wonderful. So many times, I see feminine cards, or juvenile ones. This one definitely has a non-specific feel to it that I could use it for all kinds of cards. I am thinking of perhaps classy sympathy cards.
