Happy Birthday Top Flight Stamps: Birthday Hop

For today’s project I was inspired to create a mixed media tag journal! I was super excited to work with the Zig-Zag Journal die set for today’s project! It sure is fun and so easy to create a tag journal. I started by working on my gelli plate, I used a combination of PaperArtsy acrylic paint on my gelli plate. You can see all the colors below (link to shop for paint). On my project today I used: Aquamarine, Magic Moss, Sand, Little Black Dress, and Snowflake. I applied the paint to my gelli plate using my brayer tool. I used a combination of paint, as well as a texture plate (Rounds – Carabelle Studio) to add interest to my gelli plate background. I continued to work with my paint, texture plate, and did several prints. I set them aside to dry. I then chose the print for today’s project.

Next I die cut the gelli print background using Zig Zag Journal die set. I also die cut a few elements that are included in the die set for added interest for my tag journal. Next I started to work on the main background of the tag journal by stamping onto the tags. I used a variety of stamps from AALL and Create to create texture on the journal tag (see list below). Once everything was stamped onto the background of the journal, I set this aside to work on more elements.

Next I stamped 3 focal images (bee, butterfly, and a number) onto Neenah card stock. The stamped images are from the sets listed below. Once they were stamped I added color to the stamped images using Distress Oxide Inks. I added further distressing to the edges by ripping the papers for an old worn look. I darkened the edges with distress inks.

Once everything was stamped I added white gesso to a few places on the tag journal. I liked how this brightened up the tag set. Next it was time to adhere all the elements onto the tag. Once I determined the placement for all the elements I adhered them onto the tag journal using liquid glue and foam adhesive. I then chose 2 sentiments from the PaperArtsy stamp set ESN56. I stamped the sentiments then cut them into sentiments strips and adhered them onto my journal. I added twine to complete my tags! I had so much fun creating this project! I love this Zig Zag Journal and I am excited to use this for future projects!

  11. Wonderful tag journal. I noticed many artist on the hop are using the pastel calk acrylic paints. I like the color for backgrounds.
