Through the Woods – Spellbinders

Hi Crafty friends! I am super excited to be back today sharing a new holiday card using the adorable Through the Woods die set from Spellbinders. This die set is also a part of the Christmas Traditions collection. You can see this collection here – it is a part fo the new release from September 2021. So let’s get started!

When I first saw this die set I fell in love with it! I love the rustic, retro vibe of this adorable truck! I love retro/antiques and wanted to use this feel as my inspiration for today’s card. I started by die cutting all of the truck elements. I then used Distress Oxide inks to add color to the various parts of my truck. For the truck I used the following Distress Oxide colors: Hickory Smoke, Rusty Hinge, Frayed Burlap, Ground Espresso, Aged Mahogony, and Candied Apple. I used blending brushes to apply the ink. I love the rustic vibe these inks provide. Next I glued the truck together and set this aside to work on my background for the truck.

Next I used a piece of Mixed media paper. I used Distress Oxide sprays and Distress Mica Stain Sprays to create the snowy background, as well as the trees. I used: Tumbled Glass, Frosted Juniper, Shabby Shutters, Bubbling Cauldron, and Tree Lot. Once these panels were dry, I die cut both the circle background and the trees using the dies included in this set. I also die cut the snowy hill and heat embossed this using White Glitz embossing powder from WOW. Next I adhered all the elements together: snowy background, the trees, as well as the truck. The snowy hill die is truly amazing and has small slits to put the trees into! Truly AWESOME! I adhered the truck to the snowy hill using foam tape.

Next I created the background using the Plaid Company Embossing folder. I used Kraft card stock for the embossed background. I trimmed the panel using the Essential rectangle die and adhered this to a cream color card base. I use a piece of May Arts twine to tie a bow. Finally I used a sentiment from the Holiday Sentiments Series 2 Glimmer kit. I trimmed it down and adhered this with foam tape.
